The Jaguar XE is one step closer to being named the 2016 European Car of the Year. Starting with a pool of 35 vehicles, the candidates have just been short listed to group of only seven vehicles. The Jaguar XE is one of those seven.

"We are delighted that the Jaguar XE has made it onto the short list for European Car of the Year. The votes from the jury are testament to the absolute dedication and hard work of every single member of the team that has helped to develop this truly outstanding sports saloon,” said Kevin Stride, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar XE, XF, F-PACE in a Jaguar Land Rover press release.

58 jurors representing 22 European countries comprise the selection committee for the 2016 European Car of the Year. The winner will be announced February 29, 2016. Key criteria for the award include technical innovation and value for money.

The Jaguar XE has already received 23 global awards for its combination of strong body structure and innovative driver assistance systems like Autonomous Emergency Braking. The Jaguar XE was Jaguar's first model to be developed using the brand’s advanced, lightweight aluminum architecture and the all-new Ingenium diesel engine. Clean, quiet and responsive, the stunning design and cutting edge technologies used in the Jaguar XE make it a strong contender for the 2016 European Car of the Year.
